PIEDMONT, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Officials said a father and his 14-year-old daughter died following a fiery crash in Anderson County Friday.

The Highway Patrol said the wreck happened about 8:40 p.m. on Highway 81 near Bagwell Road in Piedmont. They said at least two cars were involved.

Witnesses said one of the cars burst into flames after colliding.

The coroner's office said Nicholas Morra Jr. and his daughter Nikki died at the scene of the crash, about 2 miles from their home.

Investigators said Morra lost control of this truck around a curve, over-corrected and was hit by an oncoming car. They said the other driver was taken to the hospital.

Nikki was an eighth grade student at Wren Middle School, according to district officials.

"The family and friends of Nikki are in our thoughts and prayers," Dr. Wayne Fowler, Anderson District One Superintendent, said. "This tragedy has touched many lives in our district and we are deeply saddened."

District officials said they will have counselors available at Wren Middle for all faculty, staff and students on Monday.
