Good morning and TGIF! Luckily it's Friday, because folks in WNC may have to get an earlier start to the day (that's right, one less click of the snooze button) since fog is going to slow down your commute in spots.
A DENSE FOG ADVISORY is in effect for Buncombe, Henderson and Transylvania Counties until 9 AM. Visibilities in these areas could drop as low as a quarter-mile, so please use caution on the roadways in these counties through the next several hours.
Fog will lift through the mid and late-morning hours, with a mix of clouds and sun overhead through the lunchtime hour. A cold front will stall near the NC/SC border later today, and this will provide the forcing for another round of scattered rain and thunderstorms.
The better chance of storms will be in Upstate and NE GA areas today, but folks in WNC will still need to keep an eye to the sky. Like yesterday, some storms could be strong or severe - with hail and damaging wind gusts possible. If you're going to be out tonight for Friday night plans or sports practices/games, be sure there's a sturdy shelter nearby so you can head there if you see lightning or hear thunder.
Highs today will be on the warm side - rising into the mid 70s in WNC and the low 80s in the Upstate. We'll stay warm this weekend, and with the frontal boundary still wavering over the Carolinas, we'll watch for t-storm chances to linger both Saturday and Sunday. Have a fantastic weekend!
