Candler soldier killed in Afghanistan

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A soldier from Candler was killed in an attack in Afghanistan on Thursday, according to the Department of Defense.

Officials said that Staff Sgt. Brandon Eggleston, 29, and a soldier from Florida were killed when their vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device in the Ghazni province.

Eggleston was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group stationed in Fort Bragg, NC.
