COLUMBIA, SC (AP) -
South Carolina's law enforcement community is honoring three officers killed in the line of duty last year.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers Association on Wednesday is holding an annual memorial at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy in Columbia.
The names of Sumter Police Cpl. Chuck Nesbitt, Jr., Laurens County Deputy Roger Dale Rice Jr. and Aiken Department of Public Safety Officer Scotty Richardson are being added to the wall of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers Hall of Fame.
Nesbit was killed in a January 2011 car accident while returning from taking a prisoner to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
Rice was shot and killed in July as he searched for a murder suspect. Richardson died in December after he was shot during a traffic stop.
