BREVARD, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Colorado-based Oskar Blues Brewery announced Wednesday that it will open a location in downtown Brevard.

The restaurant, music venue and brewery, which began 15 years ago, said it will open a location just off the bike path to Bracken Mountain.

Founder Dale Katechis said he's been visiting Brevard for years.

"This place rings true with the same eclectic mountain charm that inspired Oskar Blues to put Dale's Pale Ale in a can back in the day in Lyons, CO," Katechis said in a statement. "Brevard and Lyons share a small town main street tone, mingled with live music and an energy emerging from the surrounding hills."

The brewer said it has secured a contract on a 30,000-square-foot brewery space along with 6,000 square feet of restaurant and music space.

The new location is expected to be open by December.
