Comfortable Weekend + More Rain Opportunities

Posted: Updated:

You probably noticed the drier and cooler air that spilled into our area after Wednesday's rain moved east.  Temperatures have settled into the 40s and 50s this morning with some 40s even in Upstate towns.  This is obviously on the cool-side for May.  It feels refreshing outside without being uncomfortable.

Today:  We expect all this dry air to lead to a lot of sunshine today along without any high heat.  Instead, highs will only make it into the 70s area-wide. There won't be any chance of rain today.

Tomorrow:  Friday will bring much of the same with a cool morning followed by a comfortable afternoon with sunshine.  Highs will once again stay below 80 and remain comfortable with low humidity.  Rain won't have a chance of coming down on Friday.

Weekend:  This weekend looks great with a continuation of comfortable conditions (sunshine with fairly low humidity) as highs stay in the 77-79 range for the Upstate with low-middle 70s in Western NC.  After a partly cloudy Saturday, clouds will likely increase by Sunday as a slow-moving system moves closer to us.  This system will help to improve our chances for mainly afternoon rain and storms.  Still, expect a less-than-50% chance for scattered rain and storms by Sunday afternoon.

Next WeekThe same slow-moving system which will impact our Sunday weather will stick around for at least the first half of next week.  This will bring continual spotty rain chances Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and possibly Thursday of next week.  Also, it looks as if the added cloud-cover will help to keep temperatures below 80 much of next week.  No significant heat wave is showing face during the next 7-9 days.
