Thumbing for rides is nothing new for celebrated songwriter Leonora Lambert, who releases her first poetry collection
WILMINGTON, Del. (PRWEB) May 12, 2012
In her poetry collection, “The Shirt Off My Back!: Hobo Trails” (published by AuthorHouse), songwriter Leonora Lambert explores travel via the open roads.
Lambert, a self-proclaimed hobo, found inspiration for “The Shirt Off My Back!” from a rhapsody of spirits that called to her as she blazed trails, thumbed for cars on the highway, and hitched rides on cargo trains and buses. She used her life experiences and travels across the country not only to learn about America, but to discover herself as well.
“My book is my life’s work since I first began writing at 14 years old,” says Lambert, proudly. “I am the major hobo trying to survive, and I am reflecting that in my poetry.”
Her poem simply titled “Boots” demonstrates her indomitable spirit to take on life’s challenges with the proclamation:
“Ponder your course
With pointed boots pointing
Simply to Freedom!!!”
“The Shirt Off My Back!” offers readers lessons about survival, accepting life’s circumstances with grace, and processing trauma. Adds Lambert, “Everybody loves people who are willing to work for good and shelter.”
