A man is dead after drowning Saturday afternoon in Lake Hartwell.
Anderson County Deputy Coroner Don McCowan said 33-year-old Elio Segura of Athens, GA, died in the waters just off the Singing Pines Recreation Area, near Starr.
Segura was out with family for a day out on the lake when he swam out to a buoy about 50 yards from shore, around 1:20 Saturday afternoon. While he was swimming, he went under water. His body was recovered some two hours later.
Segura's death has been ruled a drowning, but McCowan said they're working to see if he suffered any medical ailments while in the water.
We're told drugs and alcohol did not play a factor in the drowning.
