GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Mecca of lacrosse tournaments is taking off right here in Greenville this week.

Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association, or MCLA, is a collection of college and university lacrosse teams from throughout the country, and, at both Wenwood Field and Sirrine Stadium in Greenville, a new national champion will be crowned.

Thousands of fans from throughout the country and Upstate will pour in to watch these games from some of the best players in the country.

The MCLA is a league of 213 teams, including Clemson and Furman University, and all of those teams have been whittled down to this week's 16-team tournament.

This championship has taken place in Denver, CO, for the last few years, but the Greenville Visitor's and Convention Bureau was able to scoop up the games and the thousands of visitors and tourists that come with it.
