Woodruff driver dies 23 days after I-26 crash

The South Carolina Highway Patrol said that a Woodruff man died Tuesday - 23 days after a crash on Interstate 26.

The crash happened about 6:30 p.m. April 29 near mile marker 28.

Troopers said the 21-year-old driver and his 26-year-old passenger were heading east on I-26 when he lost control of the vehicle. They said the vehicle hit a guard rail.

The passenger was taken to a local hospital along with the man who died, who was taken to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center for treatment after the crash where he remained until he died Tuesday.

The Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger said the victim was Lester Parlier III.

Both the passenger and the driver were wearing seat belts, troopers said. Troopers said the crash was under investigation.
