SIDEBAR - Parkour

Posted: Updated:

What is parkour? It is the sport and physical discipline of moving along a path or route to get around obstacles in the quickest and most efficient manner - often by jumping, climbing, or running.

What is not parkour? According to American Parkour, it is not acrobatics, tricking, stunts, recklessness, or jumping off high objects for no reason.

How did parkour begin? Modern parkour started France in the early 1990s, but many say the method and training behind the movements have been around for more than 100 years.

The name comes from the French word parcours, which translates to "the way through" or "the path".
