A Whitney teenager was killed in a motorcycle crash near his Spartanburg County home Thursday afternoon.
The single-vehicle crash happened about 1 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 221 and Barnwell Road.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol said a motorcycle was traveling south on Highway 221 when the driver, identified by the Spartanburg County Coroner's Office as 16-year-old Jonah Cantrell, ran off the right side of the road, hit a curb, collided with a concrete wall and was thrown from the motorcycle.
Cantrell was taken to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, where he later died.
The coroner's office said the crash happened about a block away from Cantrell's home.
Cantrell was not wearing a helmet, troopers said.
