Deputies said they are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at a Spartanburg Waffle House on Sunday morning.

Spartanburg County deputies were called to the Waffle House located at 8121 Warren H. Abernathy Hwy where they found a man lying face down in the parking lot.

The 911 call first came in that a man was in the parking lot with a gun and a crowd was gathering, and while in route the call was up graded, to that the subject had fired the weapon, deputies said.

Witnesses told deputies that the suspect fled the scene in a white sedan just moments before deputies arrived.

Deputies later arrested the suspect 27-year-old Antwon Baker Jr. of Spartanburg and charged him with murder.

Deputies said Baker and the victim were familiar with each other and had a dispute between them that escalated to the point of Baker shooting victim. It is not clear how many shots were fired but no one else was injured in the shooting, deputies said.

Coroner Rusty Clevenger said the victim, 23-year-old Anthony Terrelle Young of Spartanburg, died from multiple gunshots to his body.

Deputies said investigators are not planning to charge anyone else in connection with the shooting.
