2-year-old girl drowns in Rutherford Co. pool

RUTHERFORDTON, NC (FOX Carolina) -

A 2-year-old girl was found unresponsive in a Rutherfordton pool and later died, deputies said.

McKenzie Hutchins was found in her family's swimming pool off of Rock Road about 9 p.m. Friday and a family member performed CPR on the child until paramedics arrived took her to Rutherford Regional Hospital, deputies said.

Deputies said Hutchins was then airlifted to Mission Memorial Hospital where she later died.

A visitation is scheduled on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Crowe's Mortuary in Rutherfordton. Her burial will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Oak Springs Baptist Church.
