GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -
The official start to summer is about 2 weeks away, and one way to stay healthy and lose weight through food preparation.
Coop's Ultra Fit founder John Defendis recommends diners on diets or people looking to eat healthier add low sodium spices, balsamic vinegar and light canola oil to your kitchen.
He also recommends using non-stick cooking sprays along with a food scale to weigh foods when preparing dishes.
Some of the other utensils Defendis recommends people keep in their kitchens to help prepare their meals are poultry scissors, a food steamer, a rice steamer and a George Forman grill.
Defendis said these are just a few tips to help anyone get on track with their weight loss program this summer.
