GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Fountain Inn man whom deputies said fled the scene of a beating with his toddler son was arrested Wednesday afternoon.

Greenville County deputies said they were called to a home on McKittrick Bridge Road in Fountain Inn on Tuesday about 11:30 p.m. after a woman reported that 34-year-old Stevie Lee Kennedy had assaulted her while he was drunk.

When deputies got to the house, Kennedy had fled with his 2-year-old son and they were unable to find him.

According to the arrest warrants, he took the child with him into the woods to hide from officers.

The woman told deputies that Kennedy shoved her head into a wall, slapped her and pulled a knife to threaten her. While searching Kennedy's home, deputies said they also found a small amount of marijuana, a glass pipe and a green, plastic grinder.

Kennedy was arrested Wednesday afternoon after he and his son were found walking near the scene of the beating, deputies said. They said the child was uninjured.

Kennedy was charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, unlawful neglect of a child, possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A Greenville County judge set his bond at $36,713. If he does make bond, he can't have any contact with the victim and has to wear an electronic monitoring device.
