TAYLORS, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenville County deputies said they are investigating a fight between two men that led to a shooting late Thursday night in Taylors.

Deputies said one man was shot in the chest about 11:30 p.m. on West Lee Road near Hallcox Street, and the shooter fled the scene.

Deputies said 22-year-old Jernarvis Patterson of Greenville had argued and got into a fight with the victim then fired several shots at him, hitting him at least once.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and had to undergo surgery, deputies said. He was last listed in critical but stable condition, according to deputies.

Deputies said Patterson turned himself in about 1 a.m. Friday and was charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. He is being held at the detention center and was denied bond.
