ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -
One person was killed and two more were injured in an Asheville crash Friday afternoon.
The crash happened at 12:42 p.m. near the intersection of Haywood Road and Swannanoa Avenue.
Police said that the driver of a motorcycle was driving southeast on Haywood Road in a reckless manner, having passed a vehicle in a no-passing zone. They said the motorcycle then hit a minivan that was making a left turn onto Haywood Road from Swannanoa Avenue.
Investigators said the motorcycle's driver, 18-year-old Mariah Lance, of Asheville, and the passenger were both thrown from the bike.
Police said that Lance, her passenger and a child in the minivan were taken to Mission Hospital for treatment. They said Lance was pronounced dead at the hospital, and her passenger and the child were not seriously hurt.
