ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Asheville police said a crash Thursday afternoon led them to a man who followed and photographed a child at a nearby store.

Police said that about 2 p.m. they were called to the Walmart store on the east side about a crash in the parking lot. They said that about the same time, someone reported a person following a child around the store and secretly taking pictures of the child.

Investigators said that witnesses at the scene helped them determine that the passenger in one of the crashed vehicles, 36-year-old Jayson McRae, was the man who was seen photographing the child.

Police said that detectives examined a data card found in McRae's possession and found pictures of a child.

McRae was charged with two counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor child. He was being held in jail on $1,000 bond.
