It's the first full day of summer - and we're going to keep it hot and muggy! Kendra had some great info on the heat in her post last night, so please keep it all in mind today!
Since we're animal lovers here in the weather center, I'll also mention the importance of taking care of your outdoor pets... while the best thing you can do is bring them inside to enjoy the A/C or fans, you also want to make sure they have plenty of water and a well-ventilated, shady area while outside. And of course, NEVER leave your kids or pets in the car... even for a few minutes!
Today's highs will be a bit warmer than yesterday's numbers - we'll hit the low to mid 90s in the Upstate and the upper 80s in WNC. It will stay muggy, too. Expect mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies, with a small chance of a PM shower or storm.
Any storms in the Upstate will be isolated, so most areas will stay totally dry. I think the best opportunity for a storm will come in the NW corner of the Upstate - so watch for dark clouds over northern parts of Oconee, Pickens and Greenville Counties.
The Mountains will have to watch for a few t-storms firing up later today, but even in WNC there will be more areas that stay dry. With that said, any storms do have the potential to bring heavy downpours and lots of lightning - even some gusty winds. If you hear thunder, get inside.
Tomorrow will bring a slightly higher chance of PM storms as a cold front moves into the region. However, this front won't be cooling us off - highs on Friday and through the weekend will stay in the upper 80s to mid 90s.
