Troopers are investigating a hit-and-run accident in Greenville County that claimed the life of a 19-year-old pedestrian Saturday.
Troopers said a 1990's Buick was traveling south on Piedmont Highway when the driver struck a pedestrian in the road and then took off about 10 p.m.
The coroner has identified the victim as Joseph Hastings, who was transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead about 11 p.m. He said Hastings died as a result of blunt force trauma.
Troopers said the driver, Joshua Kelly, was arrested shortly after the accident and was charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving death. He remained in the Greenville County jail Sunday afternoon on a $25,000 bond.
