SENECA, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A 29-year-old Greenville man died while swimming near the shores of Lake Keowee on Saturday afternoon.

According to Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis, Randy Osburn was with his fiancee and other friends in a rented pontoon when they anchored close to shore near the Harbor Oaks Subdivision near Seneca.

Osburn and his fiancee were swimming when she said he suddenly disappeared beneath the water without warning or panic about 3:30 p.m., Addis said.

Addis said Osburn was a reportedly good swimmer and in good health. He said he was found about 6 p.m. by the Oconee County Dive Team approximately 30 yards from shore in 12-feet-deep water.

There were no injuries seen on the victim and no autopsy was ordered, but toxicology reports were sent to the State Law Enforcement Division in accordance with state law, Addis said.

Addis said Osburn's death was an accidental drowning. This was the third recreational drowning in June in Oconee County. The dive team said they usually see three to 11 drownings a year.
