Good morning! We have quieted down over the past few hours as the rain showers and cloud cover have pressed off to our south. Behind the cold front that brought us the precipitation, we've got a really comfortable day ahead. Highs will actually be BELOW-normal this afternoon, with highs rising into the mid 80s in the Upstate and near 80° in the Mountains.
Dewpoints have been dropping behind the front, indicating the presence of drier air moving in. This drier air will make it VERY comfortable outside today... as afternoon humidity levels will be low. Winds will be a bit breezy in the Upstate (out of the east at 8-15 mph), and the combination of the breezy and dry air could enhance the fire risk - so I'd hold off on any outdoor burning today.
High pressure will keep us mostly sunny and dry today and through the end of the week. Temps through the rest of the week will be warming, but tomorrow will still be pleasant. Wednesday highs will be seasonal - in the low/mid 80s in WNC and the upper 80s in the Upstate - but dry air will keep it feeling nice outside.
The end of the week will bring VERY high heat - highs will rise into the low/mid 90s in the Mountains and the mid/upper 90s in the Upstate. Humidity will bump up a bit, but it will stay manageable. The "muggies" return for the weekend, with temperatures staying well into the 90s. The weekend increase in moisture will also allow for a slight chance of a pop-up PM shower or storm Saturday and Sunday.
Enjoy today, because it won't last long!
