WALHALLA, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Oconee County deputies took to the air to search for marijuana grow operations, finding more than $90,000 in plants and a meth lab.

Deputies said on June 22 the sheriff's aviation unit with the Ranger One helicopter conducted marijuana searches over the Salem area after receiving tips from the Department of Natural Resources.

The marijuana plants were spotted growing behind a home on Carmel Ridge Road, deputies said.

Investigators seized 47 plants worth an estimated street value of $94,000 total. They said they discovered a methamphetamine lab at the home while collecting the plants.

Investigators said they found meth labs in several out buildings behind the home, dismantled them and cleaned up the labs after obtaining consent to search.

Thomas Campbell, 33, and Tammy Campbell, 44, were arrested and charged with manufacture of marijuana and manufacture of methamphetamine. Both were being held at the Oconee Detention Center under a $40,000 bond for Thomas Campbell and a $50,000 bond for Tammy Campbell.

Deputies said they conduct air searches throughout the marijuana grow season and have seized more than 300 plants and made multiple arrests this year.
