Good morning! If you stepped outside earlier this morning and then turned on the forecast, you may have been thinking "What heat? It feels great outside!" You're right - temperatures have stayed comfortable this morning with the dry air in place... we've managed to dip into the 50s and 60s for most.
While humidity will bump up a bit today and tomorrow, the humidity won't be too high (I'd call it "manageable"). The heat, however, will be rising significantly. This afternoon's highs will reach the low 90s in the Mountains and the mid 90s in the Upstate. Tomorrow, we'll up the ante - hitting the mid 90s in WNC and right around 100° in the Upstate.
Highs on Friday and Saturday will be in record-territory, and I'm expecting some records to fall over the next few days. In fact, records will likely be in jeopardy through Sunday and Monday, too.
Along with the high heat this weekend, we'll see a big increase in humidity - and this could lead to some heat dangers. I am expecting some Upstate areas will be placed under heat advisories, as heat index values could hit 105° or more for parts of Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
The heat will stay high through the early part of next week and even into the 4th of July. Small t-storm chances will come back into play for the afternoon hours, but most areas will stay dry.
