SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Deputies said a man shot and killed his estranged wife before trying to take his own life in the Fingerville community Thursday night.
Spartanburg County deputies said they were called to the home about 10:45 p.m. after the man shot his wife then shot himself.
Deputies said the man was still alive as of about 8:30 a.m. but was not expected to recover from his injury.
"This is a tragic event for the family and friends of these two people, and our thoughts and prayers are with them this morning," said Lt. Tony Ivey with the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said the couple was living in separate homes, and they are still looking into how they ended up at the man's Fingerville home Thursday night.
Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger identified the woman as Tammy Blackwell, 48, of Chesnee.
