Anderson Co. deputy accused of selling drugs

ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

An Anderson County deputy was arrested Monday after a joint investigation by the sheriff's office and the State Law Enforcement Division.

Officials said Shane Thompson was arrested on charges of misconduct, but the exact nature of those charges were not immediately released. They said the investigation was launched after the sheriff's office received some complaints about Thompson.

According to an arrest warrant, Thompson sold drugs and provided sensitive information about law enforcement to people without authorization to receive such information. The judge released Thompson from jail on bond.

Thompson had worked for the sheriff's office since January 2005.
