Happy Tuesday - and happy planning if you're gearing up for some picnics or barbeques tomorrow! I'm sure a lot of grocery lists and trips are going down today... and it's going to be hot, so make sure if you head to the store you're going right home afterwards!
Today and through the rest of the week we'll deal with a very typical summertime forecast: hot and humid with late-day shower and t-storm chances. Highs today through Friday will reach the upper 90s in the Upstate and the low 90s in WNC. It will be muggy, and the humidity will make it feel a bit hotter.
Each afternoon, as we reach 'peak heating hours,' we'll watch for a few showers and t-storms to pop, particularly in the higher elevations. Today and Wednesday, I'm expecting hit-or-miss storms in the Upstate, while WNC will have a little better chance to see scattered storms. Thursday and Friday we'll go with an area-wide 30% chance, meaning a few storms will develop late-day but a lot of areas will stay dry.
Any storm could produce heavy rainfall and frequent lightning, and I wouldn't be surprised if we had a strong/severe storm or two. As usual, hail and gusty winds would be the main threat within those storms.
Get through the next few hours so you can enjoy your holiday - and don't forget to check in with Kendra for an update on the forecast tonight at 10! See you bright and early tomorrow, if you'll be up making the salads or pies!
