Apologetic bandit robs Spartanburg store

SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg County deputies said a man who robbed a Spartanburg store early Tuesday morning apologized after stealing the cash.

The robbery happened about 1:15 a.m. at the CVS at 2397 Reidville Rd.

According to an incident report, a man, wearing a dark-colored baseball cap and a towel over part of his face walked in to the store and handed the clerk an envelope with "hand me all the money" written on it with red marker. It said the clerk asked the man if he wanted the bills and the change, and the man responded he only wanted the bills.

The report said the man then apologized to the clerk and said that times were tough. It said the clerk then gave the man the money, who apologized again and left the store.

The man was described as white, about 6' tall, 130 to 160 pounds, wearing dark jeans and a  white shirt with peach stripes. He had tattoos on his right arm.

Anyone with information about the robbery was asked to call Crime Stoppers at 888-CRIME-SC (888-274-6372).
