WOODRUFF, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A short car chase through part of Spartanburg County ended with a man's arrest Wednesday afternoon.

Deputies said that just before 1 p.m., they began chasing a gold-colored car near Woodruff. They said the chase ended on Green Pond Road about a half-mile from Highway 101.

They said the driver of the pursued car jumped out and fled the scene on foot. They said the driver was arrested after neighbors spotted him in a wooded area and called for help.

A FOX Carolina photographer at the scene said it appeared that the car and an unmarked deputy's cruiser may have collided. He said there appeared to be minor damage to both vehicles.

Neither the man's identity nor the circumstances surrounding the chase were immediately released.
