2 teens charged in Spartanburg robbery

SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg County deputies said two teens robbed a Spartanburg convenience store at gunpoint early Friday morning.

The robbery happened about 4 a.m. at the Lil' Cricket store at 1228 Boiling Springs Rd.

Deputies said that two people entered the store, showed guns and demanded money. They said the pair took cash from the register, a pack of cigarettes and the clerk's cellphone and fled the scene.

Investigators said that when deputies responded to the scene, they noticed a vehicle leave a parking lot across the street from the store. They said deputies stopped the vehicle and found the pair believed to be responsible for the robbery inside.

Arrested were 18-year-old Tyrone McMahan Jr., of Spartanburg, and a 16-year-old boy, whose identity was not released. Both teens were charged with two counts of armed robbery.

Deputies said they believe the duo is also responsible for a robbery on Monday.
