HARDEEVILLE, SC (AP/FOX Carolina) -

Officials said two women died, one of whom was a Greenville County teacher, and another was injured after a car crash on a trip back from Hilton Head.

Greenville County Schools Director of Communications said the injured passenger was Marian Russell, a teacher at JL Mann High School, as was Mary Ann Collins.

Officials said Collins, of Simpsonville, died Friday morning after the vehicle crashed on Interstate 95 in Jasper County. According to JL Mann's website, Collins was a microbiology teacher at the high school and Russell is a biology instructor.

Investigators said the driver, Frances Brown Dounian, swerved to avoid hitting debris in the road but ran off the highway and hit a tree. Jasper County Coroner Martin Sauls says the women were on their way home after spending the July 4 holiday at Hilton Head Island.

Officials said Russell was airlifted to a Savannah hospital. Russell was in serious condition.
