Tonya Gray (Spartanburg Co. Detention Center)
SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Deputies said a woman was accused of hitting a clerk with pork rinds and a sports drink, during a robbery at a Dollar General store.
Spartanburg County deputies were called to the Dollar General at 1949 Hayne Street on June 29 after the suspect hit the clerk with the items during the theft.
The clerk told deputies that the woman came in, put several items in a basket and was then seen putting several items up her skirt. When the employee followed her to the door and asked for the items back, the woman picked up the drink and meat skins, hit her in the face with them and left the store.
The employee was able to get a tag number on the woman's truck and the suspect was later identified as Tonya Gray, 40, of Spartanburg, deputies said.
According to the arrest warrant, Gray fled the store with the Gatorade and pork rinds. Gray was arrested Friday and charged with strong arm robbery and was being held on $10,000 bond.
