A man wanted in connection with an assault in Belton was arrested after a nearly two-hour long standoff at a home in Piedmont on Monday.
The standoff happened at 10 Carversham Row about 3:40 p.m. after Greenville County deputies said they were serving an arrest warrant for the Anderson County Sheriff's Office.
When deputies arrived, they said the subject in question was inside the home so they set up a perimeter, and because of the nature of the charge and uncertainty of weapons or number of individuals in the house, the SWAT Team was activated.
Once SWAT arrived, deputies said a peaceful resolution was reached and the suspect surrendered without incident.
While Greenville County deputies at first said Fowler was handed over to Anderson County deputies following the standoff, they said Tuesday he was being held at the Greenville County Detention Center on local charges.
Greenville County deputies charged the man, 33-year-old Jeremy Fowler, with possession of a stolen vehicle and receiving stolen goods.
Deputies said Fowler had a stolen motorcycle in the backyard of the home on Carversham Row.
Fowler will eventually be taken back to Anderson County to be served with the outstanding attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a crime warrants in connection with an assault that happened June 23.
On the 23rd, deputies were called to Highway 20 in Belton after a man said two men hit him in the head and fired shots at him. The victim told deputies that Fowler and another man had attacked him.
No one was injured during Monday's standoff.
