ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Two men were arrested in Anderson after the Attorney General's Office said they tried to solicit sex with minors.
Attorney General Alan Wilson said two separate investigations led to the arrests of Rodney Gardner, 44, of Inman and Brian Hewitt, 45, of Spartanburg.
Both Gardner and Hewitt were accused of using a website ad to solicit sex from someone they thought was a child, according to Wilson.
Wilson said he tired to make arrangement to meet who he thought was a minor after having conversations sexual in nature with the alleged victim.
Gardner was arrested by Anderson police and charged with on one count of criminal solicitation of a minor and one count of attempted criminal sexual conduct with a minor, second degree. He was later released from jail on a $50,000 bond.
Hewitt was also arrested by Anderson police with the help of the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office. He was charged with one count of criminal solicitation of a minor and one count of attempted criminal sexual conduct with a minor, second-degree. He was released from jail on a $20,000 bond.
Both cases will be prosecuted by the Attorney General's Office.
