Upstate ladies crowned in Miss SC pageants

COLUMBIA, SC (AP/FOX Carolina) -

A 20-year-old Clemson University student from Laurens County has been crowned the new Miss South Carolina.

Ali Rogers won the honor Saturday night at Township Auditorium in Columbia. She was competing as Miss Laurens County. Rogers was Miss South Carolina Teen 2009. This year she was a swimsuit preliminary winner.

She will go on to compete in the Miss America Pageant in Las Vegas in January.

Meanwhile, 17-year-old Rachel Wyatt was crowned Miss South Carolina Teen 2012. The teen from Piedmont was competing as Miss Greater Mauldin Teen. She will compete in Miss America's Outstanding Teen in August in Orlando, FL.

Other contestants from the Upstate who made the top five included Miss Greater Lyman Mya Kayler, who was the first runner up and named most photogenic; Miss Greater Mauldin Lauren Cabaniss who was third runner up and won the overall swimsuit competition; and Miss Simpsonville Lara Scott who was fourth Runner Up.

In the Miss SC Teen pageant, Miss Greater Mauldin Teen Brook Sill was first runner up and Miss Greater Lyman Teen Sydney Sill was second Runner Up.
