CLINTON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Saluda County man who went missing three weeks ago was found safe in Clinton on Tuesday morning.

On July 10, deputies said that 75-year-old Jerry Starnes used to live in Woodruff and had recently mentioned to family members that he was thinking about leaving Saluda County. They said he most likely left on foot or hitchhiked.

On Tuesday, deputies said that Starnes was located after he checked out of a hotel in Clinton.

Deputies said that although Starnes has not returned to Saluda County he is well, and living his life as he sees fit.
