BELTON, SC (FOX Carolina) -
An Anderson County neighborhood battles crime after nearly every home has been hit by burglars, including 10 thefts in two weeks.
Peggy Lee Davis, who lives on Griffin Road, said a few weeks ago someone broke into her shed and took $8,000 worth of tools.
She said she's even caught a glimpse of the thief.
"Oh yeah, I can see them," said Davis, who said she is fed up with the judicial system. "Sometimes they will have their flashlights coming up through the woods and I holler at them and tell them 'Queen Peggy Lee has this property, and I will shoot you if you come in my yard.'"
Davis said once the thieves are arrested they are quickly let out of jail, only to turn around and steal again.
Pastor Otis Burns and his wife live down the street. They've been burglarized, and are fed up as well. They said they will do three things the next time it happens.
"I'm going to call three people up," said Burns. "I'm going to call God up. I'm going to call the cops up and then I'm going to call my .38 up - and whichever one answers first, I'll be satisfied."
A few weeks ago, someone climbed through the Burns' window and stole everything in a safe, after ransacking the house.
Deputies said they made an arrest last month after a nearby business was burglarized and that they are investigating the recent home burglaries.
Still, people who live in the area said the same crime keeps happening and they are ready to take things into their own hands.
Anyone with information about these crimes is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
