Driver killed in fiery Greer crash identified

GREER, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Spartanburg man was killed in a fiery crash in Greer early Tuesday morning.

The two-vehicle crash happened about 5 a.m. near the intersection of Highway 101 and Taylor Road.

Troopers did not immediately release the circumstances surrounding the crash, but they did say that one person was trapped in a vehicle after the crash and died at the scene. They said the second driver was flown to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center for treatment.

SLIDESHOW: Deadly crash closes highway

Spartanburg County Coroner Investigator Joe Lathan identified the man killed in the crash as 40-year-old Daniel Nelson.

Troopers said the cause of the crash was under investigation.
