COLUMBIA, SC (FOX Carolina) -
A new steel mill being built in Union County will create 40 jobs.
Gonvarri Steel Services, a company based in Spain, said it will open its first plant in the U.S. next year with an initial investment of $35 million. The company said it will invest another $15 million and create 25 additional jobs within 10 years.
"This new facility consolidates the internationalization process of the company, incorporating our first center in the United States, reinforcing our company as a multinational leader in steel service centers, particularly in the automotive business," said Gonvarri CEO Josu Calvo.
The company is a leading steel services provider, processing more than 3.2 million tons of steel last year.
More information about the jobs can be found on the company's website at gonvarristeelservices.com.
