GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

State officials said a Greenville restaurant owner did not report more than $4.5 million of gross sales from his restaurants and has been charged with tax evasion.

South Carolina Department of Revenue investigators arrested Macias "Larry" Rodriguez and charged him with six counts of felony income tax evasion on Wednesday.

Rodriguez owned and operated several Guadalajara Mexican Restaurants in Greenville County from 2005 through 2010, and was accused of filing false sales tax returns for them during those years, according to investigators.

Investigators said by failing to report all of the gross sales from his restaurants, he evaded payment of more than $259,000 of state sales tax.

If convicted, Rodriguez faces up to 30 years in prison and up to $60,000 in fines.
