WATERLOO, SC (FOX Carolina) -
The identity of the man who deputies said was killed in a shooting in Waterloo on Saturday night was released Monday morning.
Laurens County deputies said two neighbors got into an argument near Greenwood Lake. They said the argument escalated, and both men fired shots.
Deputies said one of the men, identified by the Laurens County Coroner's Office as 32-year-old Jeremy Brown, was shot in the head and killed. They said the other man, whose identity was not immediately released, was not seriously injured.
One man who witnessed the shooting said it was a case of self-defense.
"He didn't have (a) choice," said Wayne Thompson. "The man was trying to kill him. He came into his yard, shooting into his house. When he opened the door, he threatened to kill him (and) said he was going to kill him."
Deputies said their findings will be turned over to the Solicitor's Office to determine if charges should be filed.
