GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The United States Geological Survey reported two small earthquakes Tuesday morning, striking near Dorchester County and north Charleston.

The first was registered as a 2.8 magnitude quake about three miles south of Summerville. A few hours later, a 2.6 magnitude quake was registered about four miles south of Lincolnville.

While some may have felt a rumble near theses quakes, they were a small enough magnitude where no damage or injuries have yet been reported.

There have been several small quakes reported in the Carolinas so far this year, most recently July 24 in Pacolet, though according to the USGS, one to two minor earthquakes are felt each year in the Carolinas.

According to South Carolina Emergency Management, the state may experience 15 to 20 earthquakes a year.

Moderately damaging earthquakes strike the inland Carolinas every few decades.
