A Greenville man was arrested Monday in connection with the death of a man investigators said was found beaten to death nearly 40 years ago.
Greenville County deputies said that the body of Guy Jordan was found in a wooded area on Watson Drive on Dec. 28, 1972.
At the time, investigators said Jordan was last seen with several people the evening before his body was discovered. They said there was an altercation before Jordan disappeared, but there was not enough evidence to bring charges in the case.
In April, deputies said cold case investigators were reviewing the case and found information that led them to arrest 63-year-old Stoney Honeycutt in connection with Jordan's death.
According to an arrest warrant, Jordan died from blunt force trauma to the head and body.
Honeycutt was charged with murder. He was being held in the county jail without bond.
