Happy Over-the-Hump Day! It's been a foggy morning but the low clouds and fog will give way to more sunshine as we go through the next few hours. By lunchtime I expect partly cloudy sky cover across the entire area.
The afternoon will be bright with the partly cloudy sky cover - and it will be a much drier day than it was on Tuesday. A few hit-or-miss storms may fire during the afternoon and evening, but many areas will stay dry. 30 percent chances mean storms will be widely scattered at best. Of course, any storm could produce lots of lightning and heavy downpours.
The sunshine will allow highs to return to seasonal levels (yesterday we were stuck in the 70s!). Upstate highs will rise into the low 90s, while temps in WNC will peak in the mid 80s. Humidity won't be too uncomfortable - but it will be muggy with dewpoints in the low to mid 60s.
Tomorrow brings higher temps and smaller rain chances. By Friday, I think we could see some more coverage of storms through the Mountains, so keep that in mind for your Friday evening plans in the Asheville area. We'll continue to watch for some storms (mainly through the PM hours) this weekend in both the Upstate and Mountain areas.
