CENTRAL, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Police said they arrested a Liberty man after he exposed himself to a teen girl while volunteering at a vacation Bible school.

Central police said that on June 21, the 16-year-old victim and her parents filed a complaint against 26-year-old Kevin DeRossett.

According to the complaint, DeRossett showed his private parts to the girl on June 18, during a vacation Bible school held at Alive Wesleyan Church where he was serving as a volunteer camp counselor.

Officers said DeRossett resigned from the counselor position the day after he was confronted about the incident.

Police arrested DeRossett on July 20 and charged him with indecent exposure. He was released from jail on $7,500 bond.

Police said DeRossett was employed with the School District of Pickens County.

According to his profile on the Liberty High School website, DeRossett graduated in 2008 from Southern Wesleyan University with a degree in english education and taught English III CP, Drama I, and the Broadcast Journalism/Newspaper classes at LHS.

School District Superintendent Dr. Kelly Pew said DeRossett resigned from his position at Liberty High School in early July, prior to his arrest. Pew said the district was notified by the Central Police Department of the accusations against him at the time of his arrest.

If convicted, DeRossett faces up to five years in prison.

A spokesman for Alive Wesleyan Church said DeRossett is not a member.
