Late Afternoon/Evening: A mostly sunny sky will continue to provide for a nice afternoon. Temperatures will be in the 80s for most of the day (all but a few hours this afternoon) and highs will eventually reach the 90°-92° range in Upstate and NE Georgia towns. Western NC can also expect a mostly sunny sky as highs warm into the middle 80s for most places.
High humidity will provide the fuel for a few pockets of rain and some scattered storms this evening, but widespread rain and storms aren't expected.
Bit More Heat Thursday: Highs will reach the 93-96° range in the Upstate and upper 80s to near 90° in Western NC tomorrow. Isolated storms will once again be possible, but not likely in your location.
American Red Cross - Hurricane App: If you are a smart-phone user, then you are more tech-savvy than I :). If so, you may be interested to know that the American Red Cross has launched a new Hurricane Application and it is available now.
With this application, you can be alerted any time and any place on storm warning information for a specific area of interest to you (hurricane warning, tropical storm warning, flooding from tropical storms, etc). More importantly, if you have family members or friends living in coastal regions or areas prone to hurricane damage or flood damage, you could LET THEM KNOW of this application. With the number of people who have smart-phones now, this could save someone's life!
With the knowledge that hurricane season is at it's height during the months of August and September, this will no doubt be a popular data feed for iPhone and other smart-phone users. To read more on the advantages of the "hurricane app" and also watch a video detailing the application of this launch/information, you can visit: http://www.redcross.org/HurricaneApp.
