GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Police said they arrested a man accused of severely beating a woman in downtown Greenville on Sunday.

Officers said Marion Bolden, 48, was arrested and charged with attempted murder and possession of crack-cocaine.

The attack happened about 12:30 a.m. Sunday, when police said an officer saw the man hitting the woman in the leg with a steel rod, leaving her with a badly broken leg.

Before the woman lost consciousness, officers said she told them who the man was, that he was homeless and he attacked her after she tried to get away from him and he was mad.

Bolden is being held at the Greenville County Detention Center on $52,500 bond for both charges.
