PICKENS, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies said two women are in custody after they burglarized homes across South Carolina, including in Pickens and Newberry counties.

Pickens County deputies said on July 13 they arrested a Pickens woman in connection with several local burglaries.

Throughout their investigation, deputies said they discovered that the woman, Brenda Branham, 41, worked with Carolyn Rodriguez, 53, in the burglaries.

During the burglaries, deputies said the women stole items including jewelry, money, televisions and more than 30 firearms.

The majority of burglaries happened in Pickens, Newberry, Saluda, Aiken and Marlboro counties, investigators said.

The weapons have been recovered by Pickens County deputies. Branham is awaiting a bond hearing in Pickens County, while Rodriguez is being held in Horry County on burglary charges.

According to Horry County police, Rodriguez was seen breaking into someone's home on Willow Grove Drive in Loris on June 29.

When officers arrived at the house, they said they saw Rodriguez inside. When they went looking for her, they found her unconscious, hidden in the attic.

Police said Rodriguez was taken to the hospital for heat exhaustion prior to her arrest. She told them she had broken into the home because she was tired and hungry, the report said.

Rodriguez faces additional charges in Pickens County and other jurisdictions around the state, according to Pickens County deputies. The investigations are ongoing.
