SENECA, SC (FOX Carolina) -
A 52-year-old Central man was found dead Tuesday morning along the shore of Lake Hartwell near the Oconee/Pickens county line, according to the coroner.
Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis said someone called 911 at 12:56 a.m. when a motorist was flagged down by an acquaintance of the victim.
Addis said no one saw what happened, but a friend of the victim's found him face down in shallow water, pulled him out and performed CPR.
The drowning happened off of SC 93 in Seneca near the Milliken plant.
Addis said Gregory Yown drowned and had some injuries consistent with falling. He said alcohol may have contributed to his death.
Yown and two other men were spending the evening near the lake when he reportedly walked off from the other two and was found later in the lake, Addis said.
South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and the Oconee County deputies investigated the drowning.
